DOOMSDAY CLOCK

Over the course of 9 years, the world has seen the rise of a mysterious religion, the Church of Oras. Vogel Marcellus, the church's charismatic leader, claims that he is the voice of the God Oras in human form, sent to Earth to warn believers that God is angry and will begin to destroy the planet. He says that the only way to be saved is to join him in the Paradise Zone, which is his compound. As the religion grows, parts of the world are starting to be torn apart and made uninhabitable by a force that Marcellus calls "The Anger of Oras," which he says is proof that the end times have begun. The world's leaders demand an investigation and military forces are sent to the compound. Marcellus tells his followers that this is the beginning of a holy war and they must fight back to save the Paradise Zone, as Oras has decided to destroy the rest of the world in 48 hours.

You assume the role of Ark Alsnova, a young man who was brought into the faith by his mother when he was 8. Now 17 and part of the Oras Army, he is badly injured when the battlefield is mysteriously hit by the Anger although the Paradise Zone was supposedly the only safe place. He is the only one to survive the attack. His faith shaken, he goes back to question the leader and find the truth about the Church of Oras.

What is Doomsday Clock?

Doomsday Clock is my ongoing video game project. It is a 2D action-adventure hack 'n' slasher that takes inspiration from the 8- and 16-bit games that I played growing up in the 1990s, such as Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, Mega Man X, and Skyblazer. All the artwork, sounds, music, story, programming, and visual effects were created by me. This game is a labor of love that I have vastly enjoyed creating and have been working to improve and expand upon it. Ever since I started the project back in 2016, I have become more and more passionate about it and game design in general.

2022 UPDATE: The game has changed A LOT, so the demo and the trailer aren't really a great representation of what the final product will be... whenever that will be.

The trailer above is for the 2017 (alpha?) version, which I originally uploaded here on this site so players could download and try it out. As I have made improvements and expanded iterations of Doomsday Clock, I have removed that old version. You can, however, try out the September 2018 DEMO if you want to see how that plays. It's the last version that I made available for download.

The 2018 version is what people were able to pick up at various conventions. It was a full game, but I've continued to work on it and expand it even more since then. Hey, if you have a DC physical disc, I appreciate your support. It might just become a collector's item in the future :)

You can read the INSTRUCTION BOOKLET here. There is no tutorial in the game, so the booklet is the way that you'll learn to play, unless you're more of a trial-and-error player.

I want your feedback! Please contact me and tell me what you think about the demo. If you find any bugs or issues, or just have some suggestions, feel free to email me at jakie.wade@gmail.com or parabolakid@gmail.com .

Please understand that even now, I'm still very much a beginner at game development and am still learning. I would really appreciate it if you would act as a tester and look for and point out problems regarding the gameplay. I welcome constructive criticism as well.

I'm HOPING to release the final version of Doomsday Clock on at least one digital marketplace this year (2022), but there's no guarantee. I'm excited, and I hope you'll play it! Below, you can see screenshots and video of (May-November 2019, various points in 2020, 2021) the game. It's coming along nicely!

Thank you very much!!!!

Ninja James Roberts

Ninja James Roberts

Ninja James Roberts is my ongoing comic project. It is an action-adventure story with comedic elements and lots of video game references. It's for both men and women, ages 13 and older. There is an overall theme of following dreams, making friends, and cherishing bonds, which is universal to people of all ages.

What's the story?

James Roberts is a peon at the mysterious company, NONECO, who spends his days typing names and numbers into a database and dreaming of a more interesting job. Seems pretty ordinary, but at NONECO, things are anything but. When his only friend goes missing, James must become the Corporate Ninja and take on the entire company in order to save her. Will he be able to survive thirteen floors of insane battles against the management? It's the perfect job for Ninja James Roberts!
